Gnanapeeth award winner Girish Karnad has declared that he is not going to direct film in future. Aftermath of making the film is the most difficult task and time consuming. I have experienced this from Kanooru Heggadathi Kannada film direction. Television film or serial direction is feasible, comfortable and for marketing there is no stress opines Karnad speaking to media persons after showing the excerpts of three of his television venture for Bangalore Doordarshan. I am not accepting acting also nowadays. Concentrating more on writing informed Karnad sipping whisky.
When Doordarshan arrange for the preview it cannot serve liquor. That is the reason I am hosting the party on this evening Karnad repeatedly told and invited all for the booze.
Girish Karnad has produced three television serials in which he has directed Chidambara Rahasya (telecast in DD from 7th to 14 th August at 8 Pm) that is based on the novel of Poornachandra Tejaswi. The other two Kusumabaale (telecast in DD from 17th to 21st August at 8 pm) and Om Namo (telecast in DD from August 28 th to September 6) based on Devanoor Mahadeva and Shanthinath Desai works respectively are directed by Chaitanya.
At the cozy preview theatre of BMIC in Indiranagar Karnad arranged for the excerpts of all the television serials on Tuesday evening. K.P.Poornachandra Tejaswi, Mrs Shanthinath Desai, Maralu Siddappa, Suresh Heblikar, Doordarshan director Mahesh Joshi, leading journalists Mr T.J.S.George, G.S.Sadashiva, Madhyama Academy chief V.N.Subba Rao, PGS, AS Murthy, well known directors T.S.Nagabharana, Prakash Belawadi, Lohitashva, Sharat Lohitashva were present at the get together party.
Director of Bangalore Doordarshan Mahesh Joshi explained the Doordarshan objectives and said DD is happy and content with the great literary works getting visual treat from persons like Girish Karnad. Doordarshan is not Doordarshan but Sameepa Darshan he concluded in his speech.
