direct

documentary
on
veteran
actress
B.
Saroja
Devi
being
produced
by
the
Karnataka
state
government.
The
documentary,
focusing
on
her
works
in
Kannada
films,
will
have
Hithaishini
playing
the
role
of
Saroja
Devi.
Manjunath
cranks
the
camera
and
Pandit
Pravin
Godkini
helms
the
music.
Saroja
Devi
made
her
entry
into
films
at
a
very
young
age
with
the
Kannada
film
Mahaakavi
Kaalidas,
which
won
her
a
National
Award.
She
has
portrayed
a
spectacular
variety
of
roles
in
over
300
films
in
different
languages
including
Tamil,
Telugu,
Kannada,
Hindi
and
Malayalam.
Her
first
Telugu
film
was
Panduranga
Mahatyam
opposite
N.T.
Rama
Rao.
She
rose
to
fame
in
Tamil
Films
with
Nadodi
Mannan
opposite
M.G.
Ramachandran.
Some
of
her
popular
Kannada
films
include
Anna
Thangi,
Amarashilpi
Jakanachari
(first
colour
movie
in
Kannada),
Bhagyavantharu,
School
Master,
and
Mallammana
Pavada.
She
has
won
several
awards,
including
the
Padmashree
award
in
1969
and
the
Padma
Bhushan
award
in
1992.
