He obtained the second rank in classical Bharathanatyam dance at state Jr. level and senior level competition. He also represented India in the International Children festival held at Mangolia in the year 2002 and won a Gold Medal for his dance performance. He has been an active participant in the college competitions. Even as a young dancer he had participated in a dance competition at Chennai.

Ajith is being trained in western dance too. He has been trained in stunts from Appu Venkatesh. "Director Chandru told me the story and I found it interesting. My mother was ready to produce a film and thus Patre Loves Padma happened," says Ajith. There are no stunts in the film, but chasing sequences. And Chandru has made me to underplay my character. Chandru sir guided me in every shot. I was not nervous as I had performed on the stage earlier," says Ajith.

"I do not want to get branded for a particular role," he added.
