Eminent director Girish Kasaravalli modestly said that luck played a huge part in getting the award at the Osian's film festival for his Gulabi Talkies. He was speaking at the get together party conducted at Basanth Residency in Gandhinagar, Bangalore. He thanked the producer and the people from the three villages Madikal, Kodiki and Tharapathi for the contributions they made in making the film. He explained how he avoided the aspects which would make the film look beautiful; and the film has been shot on 16 mm camera, which was perfect.
Umasri, who got the award for best actress at Osian's for her performance in Gulabi Talkies, was also present in the gathering. She opined that the film should be given a prime theatre opening although it is an offbeat film. She also said that she has always been a director's actor in her career spanning 28 years.
