Independence Day this year will see two major films battling it out in the box office. The coming weeks will tell the fate of the two movies releasing on 15th, challenging star Darshan's Arjun and Anthu Inthu Preeti Banthu featuring Aditya Babu and charming Ramya.

Arjun, produced by Jayanna Films' Jayanna, Bogendra, Smt. Shashikala Narendranath and Mohankumar, is a big-budget film. It has Meera Chopra (known as Nila in Tamil) as the leading lady and veteran actor Ananth Nag plays the role of her father. There are four villains in the film to challenge Darshan: Suman, Ajay, Amith and Sharat Lohitashva. Avinash, Satyajith, Bullet Prakash, Ashok Rao, Saikrishna, Mohan Juneja, Shailaja Joshi, Sanjana and Urvashi are also in the cast.

The film has been shot extensively in Germany, Austria, Bangkok, Mysore, Bangalore and Dhanushkoti. The music scored by Harikrishna, which was released recently, is already climbing the charts.

Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu is the much-awaited remake of the Telugu super hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule. Charming Ramya is being paired with newcomer Aditya. Ramya's Bombaat has just released a week ago and is doing well in theatres. She would be expecting to repeat the same with Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu.

The film is directed by Veera Shanker and Guru Kiran has scored the music. H.C. Venu is the cameraman. Dialogues are penned by M.S. Ramesh and Rajasekhar. Srinivasamurthy, Lokanath, Harish Raj, Rangayana Raghu, Chitra Shenoy, Malathi Sardeshpande and Mandya Ramesh are also in the cast.
