Jaggesh and BC Patil win in Assembly Election

Actors Jaggesh, CP Yogeshwar and BC Patil were seen glowing with smiling faces on Sunday evening. Out of nine Kannada actors, who contested in Karnataka Assembly Election 2008, Jaggesh and BC Patil were able to defeat their rivals. Actors Ambareesh, Umashree, Saikumar, Shashi Kumar Mahendar, Madhu Bangarappa and Kumar Bangarappa were the other seven actors, who contested from various constituencies.

Comedy actor Jaggesh, who contested from Congress(I) from Turuvekere Constituency, has trounced Laxmi Narayan of the BJP by 9,526 votes. Another Kannada actor BC Patil, who contested from JD(S) from Hirekerur constituency, has defeated his rival. Another Actor CP Yogeshwar has won for the third consecutive time from Channapattana.

Former Union Minister Ambareesh was Lok Sabha member from Mandya for thrice. He contested from Congress(I) from Srirangapatna Assembly constituency and was defeated by rival Ramesh Bandesiddegouda of the JD(S) by 5,160 votes. Actress Umashree contested from Terdal and was defeated miserably by Siddu Savadi of BJP. The dialogue king Saikumar contested from BJP from Bagepalli constituency. The actor, who tried to lure the voters with his dialogue, has been pushed to the fourth position.

Director Mahendar, husband of actress-wife Shruthi, contested from BJP ticket from Kollegal Constituency. But he failed to get the votes. Bangarappa's sons Madhu (BSP) and Kumara Bangarappa (Congress(I)), who contested from Sorab, were beaten by BJP candidate H Halappa. Actor Shashi Kumar contested from Congress(I) from Challakere and was defeated with a margin of 289 votes by Tippeswamy.
