The film features newcomers Siddarth and Archana in the lead roles; the original version had Vishal, Reema Sen and Shreya Reddy in pivotal roles. Jannith, Satyaprakash and Dharma play other important roles.
Noted director S.K. Bhagavan released the audio album in a simple function recently in Bangalore. Several of the cast and crew used this opportunity to voice their opinions about the film. Debutant Siddharth looked very happy and thanked the producer and director for rendering all support that a newcomer needs. Director Vishal Raj expressed his confidence that the film will be a hit like its Tamil version.
Thimiru, released in 2006, was one of the frontrunners that year in Tamil Nadu. It was subsequently remade in Telugu in the same year as Pogaru which became a runaway success in Andhra Pradesh.
It seems that Sandalwood just can't stop 'lifitng' storylines from other languages. Several movies released or announced this year are remakes of either Telugu or Tamil films. Now, Thimiru (Tamil) has been remade in Kannada as Minchu by director Vishal Raj.
