Sudeep chosen for Ramu's Rann

After the highly-successful Phoonk, Ram Gopal Varma has jumped into another project named Rann; this time also, he has cast his favourite hero Sudeep in the film. Sudeep first worked with Ramu in Phoonk and when Ramu announced a sequel to Phoonk, he retained Sudeep, saying that he is the apt actor for that role.

Now with Rann, Ramu has once again displayed his fondness for this Kannada actor by casting him in the role of Amitabh Bachchan's son. Rann is about the media and the commercial atmosphere around it. It features the conflict between journalistic ethics and commercial interests. Amitabh plays the role of Harshvardhan Malik, India's most respected media personality who owns the channel INDIA 24/7.

Sudeep plays Jay Malik who views his father Harshvardhan Malik's channel solely as a business enterprise to make profit. The other cast includes Manisha Koirala who plays the programme head of INDIA 24/7, Riteish Deshmukh as a reporter and Paresh Rawal as as the leader of the Opposition.
