Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth has said that he desperately wants to act in Kannada movies. He was recently addressing the facilitation function on the eve of Diamond Jubilee celebration of Kannada film industry here at Palace Ground, Bangalore. He also reiterated actor Kamal Hassan's statement and requested not to mix the politics with the cinema industry.

"I desperately want to act in Kannada movies. I am looking for good role. These days movies are not made based on Kannada novels. Earlier many directors including Puttanna Kanagal were making movies based on popular novels. I would like to play the roles like Dalavayi Muttanna again. I am ready to act, if I get right opportunity in Kannada," said Rajini on the second day of Diamond Jubilee celebration of Kannada film industry.

"The present generation is losing interest in reading novels. When I was in high school, I used to read lots of novels. I would suggest all the students to read books," said Rajini. “I am really missing 'Rajanna' a lot. He was really a great actor. I was much influenced by his movies like Santa Tukaram. I don't like to hurt Parvatamma by speaking too much about Rajanna,"he added.

"The 75th Anniversary of Kannada film industry is a great matter of pride. But Rajanna's absence makes this occasion gloomy," said another actor Prakash Raj.

"Dr. Raj has contributed a lot to Kannada films. Government should give more land and take immediate step to create his statue," Jayaprada urged Karnataka Government. Actor Prabhudeva and other senior actors, actresses and technicians were also present.
