BS Yediyurappa said, "Gangubai's funeral will be held with all state respect. Hindustani Music centre will be established at her Mukthidhama in Keshwapura." He added, "The Government has already converted her house in Dharwad as a state monument. Now, her statue will be installed in a popular location in Bangalore."
Talking about the sudden death of the classical singer, VS Acharya said, “The death of Gangubai is a great loss to the music world, which can not be replaced." Legislative Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar, who also hails from Hubli, condoled the demise of Gangubai.
Gangubai Hangal passed away at Lifeline Hospital Hubli (Hubballi) in Karnataka following cardiac and respiratory problems this morning. She was 97 years old. Her funeral ceremony will be held at 9.30 am on Wednesday.
