Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle has debuted in Kannada by recording her first Kannada song for Rajesh Nair's directorial debut movie Mandahasa, which is produced by Basava Reddy. The movie features Josh actor Rakesh Adiga, Mumbai-based model Nikki, and 'Star Singer 2' contestant Chethan in leads.

Earlier, Asha's elder sister Lata Mangeshkar had sung the song 'Bellane Belagayithu...' for the historical Kannada film Sangolli Rayanna in 1970s. Now, Asha has sung the Kannada song, which is composed by Veera Samarth. The music director says that this is the biggest turning point in his musical career.

Asha Bhosle has recorded the song, which has been written by Raghavendra Kamath, on Feb 2 at Mumbai's Spectral Harmony studio. She took just two-and-a-half hour to sing the song. She had written the lyrics in Hindi in her own handwriting. The rehearsal of the song was done a day earlier.
