KCA celebrating BR Panthulu's 100th birth anniversary

Kannada Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) has started the celebration of 100th birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker of Golden era of Kannada cinema, B Ramakrishna Panthulu. IT&BT Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and popular senior actress Dr. B Saroja Devi inaugurated the function on Monday evening.

The KCA has organised the BR Panthulu's film festival (Chitrotsava) on the eve of his 100th birth anniversary. Panthulu-directed 19 films are being screened at Priyadarshini Theatre and Badami House along with a seminar on his films. A book on Panthulu will also be released on the occasion. The KCA is spending 25 lakhs on his film fest, says the president of the KCA, TS Nagabharana.

Meanwhile, the KCA also celebrated its first anniversary on the occasion. BR Panthulu's daughter BR Vijayalakshmi handed over the script of the movie Shri Krishnadevaraya, which is one among the important movies directed by him. Talking about BR Panthulu on the occasion, Dr. B Saroja Devi described him as 'talented director'.
