On her Twitter account, the Sandalwood queen had confirmed that she had opted out from the film Johnny Mera Naam. She tweeted, "It's official. You're hearing it from me. I'm not doing Johnny. And now that I've cleared the air. Let's move on."
Later, it was reported that Ramya had walked out of Johnny Mera Naam due to remuneration problem. She was said to have quoted Rs. 22 lakhs as her payment for the film besides separate payment for her assistants. But the film bosses were ready to give her a package of Rs. 20 lakh only. Following this remuneration issue, she had decided to stay away from the project.
But Ramya was very angry after reading the rumours about it on many portals. She tweeted, "It's against my professional ethics. I'm not a bargainable commodity. Anyway, I wish the team the very best. I also recommended a few heroines, who will suit the role! Talking about the the figures, she further tweeted, "It's not what is being stated in the websites! They got their facts and figures all wrong!"
On 28th October, she confirmed on Facebook that that she will start shooting for Johnny Mera Naam with Vijay. At 10.30 pm, Ramya posted, "I just signed Johnny Mera Naam with Vijay. (I will) begin shooting in Mysore. The film will be directed by Preetham Gubbi. It's a hilarious script. (It) will be fun shooting it I hope. Singam Puli releasing on the 5th! Nervous! Always before a release."
However, Ramya has received lots of accolades for her roles in Jothegaara and Kichcha Huchcha. She has several projects like Bhimoos Banga Bang Kids, Sanju Weds Geetha, Dhandam Dhashagunam in Kannada and Kadhal 2 Kalyanam and Singam Puli in Tamil, for which she has already completed shooting. Now, she is waiting for the release of these films. She has Siddalingu and Johnny Mera Naam for which she will start shooting very soon.
