Just a day before the release of her Kannada movie Kanteerava, popular South Indian actress Yamuna has created big headlines, but it is sad that she is in news for all wrong reasons. The Kanteerava star has been arrested by the Bangalore police for her alleged involvement in a prostitution racket in the ITC Royal Gardenia, a five star hotel, situated on Vittal Mallya road in Bangalore.
According to police sources, actress Yamuna was caught red handed along with eight other members. Police sources say, "On a specific information, we conducted a raid on room no. 1402, 4th floor in ITC Royal Gardenia Hotel, Bangalore. During the raid, we have recovered Rs. 2 laks from actress Yamuna and Rs 46,000 from her pimp Surakshit of Puttur in Andhra Pradesh. Customer Nandakumar, the owner of Transoft Call Centre and a resident of Kasthuri Nagar in Indira Nagar, has been arrested. Nandakumar's Toyota Forturner and pimps' Hundai Electra cars have also been seized."
The Police sources added, "The room no. 1402 was booked for one hour for Rs. 28,000, while an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs was fixed for the actress for an hour. However, the actress and the customer were produced before 1st ACMM judge on January 20 and both were remanded to custody. Yesterday, they got released on bail. Meanwhile, pimp Surakshit was also produced before court and was later given to police custody till 28th of this month."
However, actress Yamuna has acted in films like Mamagaru, Mouna Poratam and Erra Mandaram. She debuted in Kannada with Shivaraj Kumar's movie Modada Mareyalli in 1991. She has starred alongside crazy star V Ravichandran in Chinna in 1994. Later, she paired again with Shivanna in Aasegobba Meesegobba. She was the hot symbol in South Indian film industry in 1990s. Recently, she has also appeared in Shambo Shiva Shankar. Her latest movie in Kannada is Duniya Vijay's Kanteerava, which has been released yesterday (21th January).
