Late Shankar Nag, who passed away in September 1990, was a veteran director and actor of Kannada film industry, but sadly nothing has been done to remember him. Here is an effort being made in that direction. Namana Films and Orion Pictures is making an effort to remember him by using animation technology.

Namana Films and Orion Pictures are jointly producing a movie called Khaaravela, which features an animated form of Shankar Nag. The film is about Cholas dynasty and it dedicates 40 minutes portion to feature Shankar Nag. The remaining portion of the film will deal with other characters.

Director Purandar held a screening of the preview of the movie Khaaravela for the media at Renukamba Digital theatre on Monday evening, 18th April. The movie is being made with a whopping amount of Rs. 5 crores and animation and usual format of film making are being used for its making.

However, Khaaravela is being produced by Anaji Nagaraj, Purandar, KBS Srihari, BN Nijalingappa and Abdul Karim. Arun GV Kumar is scoring music for the lyrics of Raqib Alam in the film. The movie team has done lot of research before starting the work on the film. The team aims to take the Kannada films to greater heights.
