Kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar started his career as a romantic hero with the movie Anand, which became super-hit film at the Box Office. His later hit movies like Rathasapthami and Mana Mechchida Hudugi depicted him as same old lover boy. But Upendra-directed movie Om gave him a new look.
The film Om is a gangster movie and is one of the biggest hits and most popular movies in the industry. The movie set a new trend in Kannada film industry. In fact, this movie started the trend of films about real rowdyism. The image of Shivaraj Kumar holding a sword impressed many movie buffs and made them his fans.
Sandalwood star Shivaraj Kumar was also passionated by the genre and tried out more movies in the same genre. Initially, his movies like Jogi, Sathya In Love and few other films become successful, but his recent movies like Santha, Hattrick Hodi Maga and Thamassu in the same genre, failed at the Box Office.

He has ditched his image of angry young man holding a sword. Instead, he is holding a thrishool in the movie Jogayya.
The movie Jogayya features him in the Rudra avatar. Director Prem and producer Rakshita have planned to cash in his new avatar. So they have raised the cut-outs of Shivaraj Kumar in Rudra avatar in front of many theatres in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka.
