Athough the muhuratha of their movie is said to be held on 9th February, Uppi-Prem combo has not made any details of the film public. According to sources, the director of their film has not yet been selected yet, but will be finalised in a day or two. Only information about the film that is leaked is that it will be a remake of Mohanlal-Meena starrer hit Malayalam movie Udayananu Thaaram released in 2005.
Udayananu Tharam is a Malayalam black comedy film that presents the South Indian film industry through a satirical viewpoint. Its story is all about two friends Udayan and Rajappan, who aspire to become a film director and an actor. Udayabhanu is a talented assistant film director, who yearns to write and direct his own movie at a time. Actor Rajappan Thengummoodu is a crooked friend of Udayabhanu.
Rajappan steals Udayan's script written and makes a film, which turns out to be a superhit. Udayan prepares another script for which he is forced to cast Rajappan, who gives him maximum trouble and walks our of the set at the end of the shooting. But how Udayan devices clever tactics and shoots the remaining scenes without Rajappan will form the crux of the film.
However, Upendra and Prem are two giants of Kannada film industry. Uppi has once again proved that he is different director-cum-actor with his latest release Super. Meanwhile Prem has created record in Sandalwood with his movie Jogi starring Shivaraj Kumar in the lead. His upcoming movie Jogayya, which is a sequel to Jogi and is releasing in April is the most-hyped and most-expected movie of the year 2011. Now, with the two biggies joining hands, the expectations about their combo movie are sky high.
