Nanban, Businessman put Kannada movies on back foot

By Ramchander

Kannada film industry is in crisis again. The non-Kannada movies like Nanban(Tamil), The Businessman (Telugu) and other movies, which are releasing this Sankranthi, have got most number of theatres to screen in Karnataka and that has left with a very meagre number of theatres for the Sandalwood movies.

Srinagara Kitty's Ko Ko and and Yogish starrer Sidlingu are being troubled by non-Kannada movies. In a joint press meet, the producers of both the movies expressed their anguish for not getting enough theatres for the native films. They urged the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to intervene and help them to get theatres for Kannada films.

Apart from Nanban and The Businessman, two big movies like Vettai (Tamil) and Bodyguard (Telugu) are also hitting the screens. It is said that Upendra postponed Aarakshaka, which was earlier announced to be released on January 13 to January 26 due to the unavailability of theatres.
