Golden Star Ganesh turns 33 sans golden days!

Gold price has seen a sharp dip in the recent months and so is the market of our Golden Star Ganesh, say industry insiders. A series of failures has almost relegated his obscurity. On his 33rd birthday, the industry and his fans hope that he will make his comeback like a phoenix raising from the ashes.

100s of people walk around the streets of Gandhi Nagar dreaming of being an actor or a star, may be, someday. Only countable will get opportunities to don the grease paint, of which only blessed ones with talent will make some impact in the film industry.

Like many aspiring actors, Ganesh too entered Bangalore hoping to earn his daily bread and butter in the film industry. After working as an assistant director and doing small-roles in films, he ventured into small-screen and got huge popularity with Comedy Time. His mimicries of stars with a good sense of humour earned him a good fan following.

He also acted in over 10 films as a second fiddle or as a character artist. In 2006, MD Sridhar launched him as a hero with Chellata. But it was sleeper-hit Mungaaru Male directed by Yogaraj Bhat that made him a star overnight.

People from other industries praised him and he reached the top of the chart from nowhere. What we saw in the coming years was a series of romantic-comedy movies. Producers used to make a beeline to get his callsheet as he was a youth icon. Continue reading on the slideshow...
