Kannada movies have regularly won appreciation at various film festivals. But hardly we have seen our commercial movies making it to Oscars. Well, here is a good news, which could make Kannadigas proud. The buzz is that recently-released Lucia and last year's Blockbuster flick Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna are being considered for the Oscars nomination.
Reports say that Lucia and Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna have found places in among 20 films, which are considered for India's Oscar entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The short-listed films will be seen by the eminent panel of the Film Federation of India (FFI) on September 17.
Lucia is a psychological thriller directed by Pawan Kumar. It stars Neenasam Satish and Shruthi Hariharan in the lead roles. On the other end, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, which stars Darshan and Jayaprada in the leads, is a historical movie directed by Naganna.
The rumours of both the movies being considered for the nominations have made the makers of both the films happy. Director Naganna believes that if the Kannada movie gets selected for the Oscars, it will help the global audience to know about the historical figure of Karnataka.
On the other end, Pawan Kumar has said that getting nomination itself is a big deal as there is a huge competition. It is an honour for an aspiring filmmaker like him to get nomination for a debut movie.
