Meghana Raj, who is making her Sandalwood debut with Raja Huli, has spoken about the controversy that her dear friend Nazriya Nazim has come across in Tamil film industry. Speaking to a leading daily, Meghana said that Nazriya is from conservative background and people should respect her choice.
Nazriya Nazim had filed complaint against Naiyaandi director Sarkunam early this month. She had alleged that he has used a body double to shoot intimate scenes without informing her. She had lodged a complaint with the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) against director Sarkunam and producer S Kathiresan asking for immediate action. After the success of Tamil film Raja Rani, Nazriya was expecting to give another hit Naiyaandi in which she was paired opposite Dhanush.
Commenting on the issue Meghana Raj said, "If a director asks me to wear a lehenga in such a way that my navel is seen, I wouldn't mind it. It's a very personal choice. Nazriya is a dear friend. She comes from a conservative background."
Nazriya was also a hurdle for Naiyaandi's release, which had kept the movie makers in lurch. The actress, who created a controversy prior to the release of the movie, was unofficially banned from Tamil film industry. Her decision to put the movie in trouble in the last minute was not accepted by Tamil filmmakers.
