Kamal Hassan, over the years, has became closer to Kannada audience. Especially, after working in superhit Sandalwood movie Rama Shama Bhama, the Universal Star has tried to woo the cine-goers by expressing his love for the state and films. Recently, he said at the Centenary Celebration of Indian Cinema held in Chennai that he wants to belong to Karnataka!
Well, the latest to hear from Kamal Hassan is about his respect for legendary Kannada filmmaker Puttanna Kanagal. Last weekend, the actor was in Bangalore to attend a programme organised by Press Club of Bangalore and Bangalore Reporters' Guild. Speaking at the occasion, the actor recalled some of the classic movies directed by Puttanna and the actor's love for his films.
"We used to await for Puttanna Kanagalji's movies. Like me, my mentor K Balachander was a fan of the Kannada filmmaker and we were coming to Bangalore on the release days to watch his movies." The actor also said that he loves to visit Karnataka.
Kamal Hassan has also said that he loves to work in Kannada movies. He said, "I have been telling my good friend Ramesh Aravind to come up with bilingual projects. I want to reach out to Kannadigas." Continue reading the story on the slideshow...
Kamal Hassan also spoke about the dubbing issue. The actor said that the ban on the dubbing will not help any industry to grow.
He said, "There should not be any restrictions on other language films. There should not be protective measures by the state government. The industry should be open for the competition."
Flip Side Of Dubbing
Kamal explains, "But the flip side of the dubbing is that the originality will be lost and people could not connect to it. However, it is only my personal opinion."
Kamal Hassan claimed that he wanted to show the trailer of his Vishwaroopam to the Bangalore media, but as their was no required facility to screen the trailer, he dropped his plans.
Ramesh To Direct Kamal
Meanwhile, Ramesh Aravind is getting ready to direct Kamal Hassan. He says that Kamal is not only playing the lead, but also writing the script of the movie.
Their Earlier Associations
This is not Ramesh and Kamal's first film together. Both of them have acted together in films like Sathi Leelavathy, Panchathanthiram, Mumbai Express and Rama Shama Bhama.
Ramesh To Announce Details Soon
When asked what kind of movie it will be, Ramesh said, "Just give us two weeks and we will let you know more about it."
Lead Actress Not Finalised
When asked about the lead actress, Ramesh said, "Nothing has been decided yet." The movie is said to be a bilingual and will be made in Kannada and Tamil.
