Ragini Dwivedi, who had earlier worked
with Upendra in
Aarakshaka, will be romancing him again. The actress has
been signed to play the female lead role in the forthcoming
multilingual movie Basavanna.
The glamorous actress has announced the news on Twitter. She
wrote, "Xtremly excited 2 work wid UPI on our nxt film 2gther
"BASAVANNA"dir Srinivas nd prod Manohar sir lookin foward
to it ;) fab script ;)"
Upendra's latest film Basavanna created controversy
even before the shooting of the film kicked off. The first look of
the Kannada film has raised eyebrows and has irked a section of
community in Karnataka as it is the name of a popular social
reformer and the community leader of the same name.
Meanwhile, the shooting of Basavanna has been started
today (June 13). The film was launched at Doddanna Ganesha Temple.
But it was a low-key event as it was only attended by the cast and
crew of the film.
However, director Srinivasa Raju of Dandupalya fame has
denied any connection with the community leader. "I consider
Basavanna as just another film for me. When there are
films with God's name like Brahma, Shiva why not Basavanna. I have
not chosen the film's title to create controversy. I thought it was
apt for my story."
