Soodhu Kavvum, one of the low-budget hit Tamil films of the year, will be remade in Kannada. The remake rights has been acquired by well-known producer Rockline Venkatesh.

After Tamil horror-thriller Pizza, it is the turn of debutant Nalan Kumaraswamy's Tamil crime-comedy Soodhu Kavvum, which will soon be remade in Kannada.

"It is one of the wittiest films I have seen in recent times. It's a rarity nowadays to see a film with out-of-the-box story line laced with sensible humour. The film has done exceptional business in Tamil, and I'm sure it will be bigger hit in Kannada as well," believes Rockline Venkatesh

The successful movies from the Rockline's banner are Yaare Neenu Cheluve, Preethsod Thappa, Preethse, Junglee and Super.

Soodhu Kavvum, which was about four misfit kidnappers, was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 2 crore. The film, which is still running in cinemas in Tamil Nadu, managed to collect over Rs 8 crore within the first two weeks.

The lead cast for the untitled Kannada remake is yet to be finalised. Talks are also on for the Telugu and Hindi remake of Soodhu Kavvum.
