Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express Rock Solid At Bangalore Box Office
Bangalore has once again turned out to prove that it is a good market for Hindi movies. Bollywood movie Chennai Express starring Shahrukh Khan has done an amazing business at the Box Office. The movie, which was released on August 8, has continued to be a crowd puller in the Garden City as the demand for the tickets is still huge. More importantly, the movie has not given a chance to other release Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara starring Akshay Kumar to dominate the market.
Chennai Express was released with the preview shows on August 8, where it had close to 90 screenings between 6 pm to 10 pm. On the opening day, it collected more than Rs 30 lakhs with preview shows in Bangalore alone and it raked in Rs 6.75 crore overall in India. In the next few days, it did wonderful business not only in Bangalore, but also in various parts of Karnataka. In terms of collections, the state stands in the fourth best position for the Shahrukh Khan starrer movie.

80+ Shows
Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express is having 80+ screenings even today (August 17) in Bangalore. In some of the multiplexes, the movie is being screened in about 10 shows.
Star Power Of SRK
A source from a multiplex explains, "People are going crazy about Chennai Express. Firstly it is the star power of Shahrukh Khan which is keeping the demands high. And SRK enjoys a huge fan following here."
Good Word Of Mouth
The source continues, "Hence, the demands for the tickets of Chennai Express. Unlike Ra.One, which got mixed reviews, the latest movie has got positive word of mouth in large numbers. This factor is pulling the audience to theatres."
Weekday Response
On asking about the weekday response, the source said, "In the first weekend, Chennai Express had raked in close to Rs 6 crores in Karnataka alone. The response for the movie was low. On Wednesday, it made a better business in some of the theatres."
OUATIMD
It is interesting to note that new release Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara is only having 20+ screenings in Bangalore today. It may be because the movie has not opened up to good reviews from critics.
Will CE Set New Benchmark?
Chennai Express is set to create a new record at Bangalore Box Office. If the craze in the city for the movie continues in the same way for a week, it undoubtedly sets a new benchmark in the Garden City, say traders.
CE Breaks JTHJ Records
Traders also say that Chennai Express has broken the records of Shahrukh Khan's earlier release Jab Tak Hain Jaan, which was directed by legendary director Yash Chopra, at Bangalore Box Office.

Chennai Express faced a competition from other releases like Tamil movie Thalaivaa starring Vijay and Kannada movie Tony starring Srinagar Kitty.
