How many of them know that India's paramount IT player NR Narayana Murthy, a Kannadiga, is a cine goer? Many are not aware of his interest in watching films. He watches Kannada, Hindi and English movies.
In a candid chat with a Bollywood-based leading film magazine, NR Narayana Murthy has opened up on films. Among the current lot of actors, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has found a fan in the global software tycoon.
Mr Murthy has said that he had a best experience when he watched Shahrukh Khan's Chak De India. The ambiance in the theatre and the joy of watching youngsters shouting at every goal the hockey players scored in the Hindi film were simply brilliant.
Mr Murthy said, "The finest movie going experience in recent times was watching Chak De India (2007). Sudha and I were the only two 60 plus people in the theatre. The youngsters shouted at every goal the hockey players scored in the film. SRK is an extraordinary actor. But this is his only movie that I've watched." First Movie He Watched...
NR Narayana Murthy says that the first movie he watched was a Kannada movie. Any guess? It is none other than legendary director B Ramakrishnaiah Panthulu's School Master.
"My father was a teacher. We were five children. My parents watched a lot of films, but they never took us along. But the first film I watched was the Kannada movie Schoolmaster (1958)," the magazine quotes Murthy as saying.
He adds, "A similar storyline was witnessed in Amitabh Bachchan's Baghban (2003). But Schoolmaster was more impactful. It described the virtue of a teacher and his sacrifices."
Sudha Murthy Reignites Interest
NR Narayana Murthy gives credit to his wife Sudha Murthy for reigniting interest in Hindi films. He also claims that he loves comedy genre than romantic movies.

However, NR Narayana Murthy is also fan of Kannada superstar Upendra. It may be recalled that in an interview the Real Star had claimed that Murthy and his wife called him and complimented on several occasions.
