In what could be a perfect culmination of North meeting South, Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan will be dancing together for a tune with the South stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Sudeep, Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi and many others.
The South Indian film industries - Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil - will be coming together to celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema. It is a three-day event which will be held between September 1 and 3 in Chennai, where the above-mentioned stars will be sharing the stage.
The function will be organised at the Nehru Indoor Stadium and YMCA grounds in Chennai. The event organisers have also planned for a special anthem song for the function. The song is likely to be composed either by Oscar Award winner AR Rahman or Music Maestro Illayaraja.

AR Rahman Or Ilaiyaraaja
Talking about the event, Secretary of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Ravi Kottarakara has said that they have approached AR Rahman and Ilaiyaraaja to compose the song. And for the same song, Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Sudeep, Shahrukh Khan and many others will dance.

"We have approached the music legends to compose a song to commemorate 100 years of cinema. It will be a special song for the celebration because, on the final day, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Shivaraj Kumar, Kamal Hassan, Mohanlal, Rajinikanth, Sudeep and Puneet Rajkumar will perform to the song. We are hoping to hear from the music composers soon and the song will be released prior to the function," the Times of India quoted Ravi as saying.

He further claims that a centenary building for South Indian movies is being constructed in Chennai. It will have a preview theatre and from now on, they will preserve the reels of all the movies. It has to be noted that Bollywood celebrated the event by making a movie, Bombay Talkies, earlier this year.

There will be a lot of entertainment activities like music, drama, dance performances and photography exhibition in the three-day event.
C Kalyan, President of The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC), claims that they choose Chennai as the venue because it is the birthplace of South movies. Earlier, films were shot and made in the capital of Tamil Nadu.

He adds that they will be felicitating 50 artists from different sectors from film industry like lighting, sound, production, distribution, etc.

The opening day of the film event will be dedicated to Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Whereas, the second day is for Kannada and Telugu industries.

And on the final day, stars from all the South industries will come together. Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi, Mammooty, Nagarjuna, Shivaraj Kumar, Darshan and Sudeep will be performing at the event.
Chief Ministers of all South states will be attending the event. The event organisers have invited The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, for the function. On the occasion, 50 stamps of popular personalities of South films, of which 10 stars from Kannada films will be released.
