We have often seen Tamil movies facing issues for its release in Tamil Nadu and getting a grand reception in its neighbouring state Karnataka. It seems like history is repeating here again. Much-hyped Tamil movie Thalaivaa starring Illayathalapathy Vijay is also likely to see the same fate in its own state, but getting ready for the royal welcome in the Kannada-speaking region.
Thalaivaa has landed in trouble over the release issue in the last minute. When people thought that the movie was hitting the screens without any controversy, the trouble came in the form of a bomb threat. A never-heard-before group named Oppressed Students' Revolutionary Union has threatened some of the theatres in Chennai of dire consequences if the movie is screened.
In a threatening letter, the organisation has claimed that one of the producers of Thalaivaa had cheated students of Tamil Nadu. Hence, it will not let the movie hit the screens in the state. It allegedly made a bomb threat leaving the theatres to cancel the advance booking. But police reportedly believed that to be a hoax.

But it is a different case in Karnataka. Here advance booking for Thalaivaa has started and it is going in full swing.
Tickets Selling Like Hot Cakes
A theatre owner says,“Tickets are being sold at a rapid pace. Not only in multiplexes but also in single screens, tickets are selling like hotcakes across the city.”
Increase In Shows
He continues, “We had expected such response and we increased the number of shows. By today evening, the tickets for the next three days will be almost sold,”
Thalaivaa Theatrical Rights
The theatrical rights of Thalaivaa have been acquired by Aditi Brunda. It is releasing in a good number of screens enter Karnataka.
Above 50 In Karnataka
Thalaivaa is releasing in around 50 screens in Karnataka. In Bangalore, it is hitting screens in above 25 screens on August 9, say reports.
Thalaivaa stars Vijay, Amala Paul and Sathyaraj in the lead roles. It is directed by AL Vijay and produced by Chandra Prakash Jain.
Thalaivaa Faces Competition
Meanwhile, Thalaivaa will be facing a lot of competition from other languages biggies. Mainly, it has to face one film each from Bollywood and Sandalwood.
Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express is officially releasing tomorrow (August 8). The film is directed by Rohit Shetty and Deepika Padukone is the female lead.
Srinagar Kitty and Aindrita Ray starrer Kannada movie Tony is also releasing in good number of screens. Being the local movie, it has advantage over the Tamil movie, Thalaivaa.
