controversies

its
title.
It
is
said
that
the
crew
has
finally
decided
to
sort
out
the
issue
and
renamed
the
movie
as
Om
2.
The
latest
buzz
from
Kannada
industry
says,
when
Upendra
heard
the
plot
and
his
role
in
Basavanna,
he
was
thrilled,
and
suggested
the
crew
to
rename
the
movie
as
Om
2.
Speaking
to
a
regional
daily,
director
Srinivas
Raju
of
Dandupalya
fame
said,
"I
was
overwhelmed
to
hear
it
from
Upendra,
who
said
the
movie's
plot
is
same
like
Om.
He
was
very
happy
with
the
movie's
plot
and
his
role."
In
early
July,
Karnataka
State
Government
had
ordered
Karnataka
Film
Chamber
Of
Commerce
to
cancel
the
title,
which
was
given
for
the
movie
makers.
'Basavanna'
is
the
name
of
a
leader
from
one
of
the
largest
communities
in
Karnataka.
The
caption
of
the
film
and
the
hand
gesture
in
the
first
poster
created
the
controversy.
Om
was
Kannada
Blockbuster,
which
was
released
in
the
year
1995.
The
movie
had
Shivraj
Kumar
and
Prema
in
the
lead
roles.
In
a
recent
interview
to
Oneindia,
Upendra,
who
directed
the
movie
said,
"Om
is
the
movie
that
got
me
an
identity
in
the
Kannada
film
industry,
and
I
loved
working
with
Shivanna."
