Pakistani girl Veena Malik became a household name with Hindi reality show Bigg Boss. Her presence in the show earned a good name for herself among Indian audience. When Veena Malik was signed for Silk Sakkath Hot, there were lot of uproar in Karnataka. Sri Rama Sene, a ring-wing Hindu group, raised objection for signing her for the Sandalwood movie. Muthalik staged a dharna in Mangalore, claiming that the makers
of the film should consider his threat seriously as the Hindu group
won't let the movie hit the screens.
He went on to criticise Veena Malik in strong words and accused
her of having connections with terrorist groups. He claimed, "Many
actresses from Pakistan were earlier in the news for having
connections with terrorist organisation."
Why Veena Was Signed?
Muthalik had claimed that the makers of Silk Sakkath
Hot did not verify her background and he expressed his
surprise as he still did not understand why the Pakistani actress
was signed when there was a good pool of talent in India and
especially, in Karnataka.
The Issue Died
Later, the issue died as the makers of Silk Sakkath Hot
did not take the issue seriously. The makers went on with the
shooting and completed as per their plans.
Silk Sakkath Hot is a biopic of sex symbol of 80s, Silk
Smitha. But it is not a remake of Hindi movie The Dirty
Picture, which starred Vidya Balan.
Why They Changed The Title?
It may be recalled that Silk Sakkath Hot was earlier
titled as Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Hot Maga. But they
changed the name of the film after The Dirty Picture
producer Ekta Kapoor raised objection over the title.
Dirty, A Brand?
According to Ekta Kapoor, The Dirty Picture is a brand
and as the Kannada movie too was made on Silk Smitha, she raised

Ekta Kapoor took the battle to the court and she won the case.
The court asked the makers of the Kannada movie not to use 'Dirty'
in the title.
Ready For Release
After clearing almost all the issues, Silk Sakkath Hot
is now ready for release. Now, the Kannada movie will release on
'A' Certified Film
Silk Sakkath Hot has bagged 'A' certificate from the
Regional Censor Board. Veena Malik's dare bare scenes have made the
board to give the afore-mentioned certificate.
