Maanikya Screened In Stockholm

Sandalwood superstar Kichcha Sudeep has reason to smile. His blockbuster hit movie Maanikya had a special screening in Stockholm. The movie was screened by Stockholm Kannada Koota on October 18th. The movie, directed by Sudeep is a remake of Telugu hit Mirchi. Sudeep and Ravichandran shared the screen space for the first time.

Maanikya was a huge commercial success. The movie crossed the 100 day mark comfortably in Bangalore. It also cross Darshan's Kraanthiveera Sangolli Rayanna as the highest grossing Kannada movie of all time. The commercial success of the movie has brought a sigh of relief for the industry which is plagued by series of failures in the past few years.

A Kannada movie being screened outside India is a big thing for the industry. At the time when the Kannada movies are hardly screened outside the state, the movie getting an audience in Europe is an achievement. This year Pawan Kumar's Lucia was screened in an international film festival in Zurich, Switzerland.

Rakshit Shetty's Ulidavaru Kandante was another Kannada movie to be screened outside India. The movie was screened at a film festival in Florida US. It seems like that the Kannada movie are truly going global/
