Since many years Sandalwood has done a lot to put a break to piracy, and also it has become successful to an extent. But the incidence, which took place in Nartaki theatre on Friday shows that the piracy monster is still alive.
On Friday, January 17, 2014, Upparpete Police has arrested a person named Manoj Kumar, who was involved in the piracy of Sandalwood's recent release Ninnindale. The movie, which was released on Thursday (January 16), stars Puneet Rajkumar and Erica Fernandes in leads.
It is reported that Manoj Kumar was recording Ninnindale movie in the handy cam at Nartaki theatre. When he was trying to copy the footage to a CD at a local cyber-cafe, Upparpete Police caught him red handed. The cops were alerted by the theatre owner and Ninnindale producer Vijay Kumar.
It is also reported that Manoj Kumar, who is based out of Bijapur town, has been caught in several piracy cases before. He used to capture all newly released Kannada movies in his handy-cam and use to sell the print for lower price. The legal case has been booked against the culprit, based on the complaint filed by theatre owner and Ninnindale producer. Upparpete police have revealed that further action will be taken soon.
