Om To Be Re-Released With 5.1 Surround Sound

Nineteen years back Real Star Upendra directed the movie Om starring Hat-trick hero Shivaraj Kumar and Prema. The movie soon achieved a cult status. It broke all records on the box office and till today remains as one of the most iconic movies of all time.

Shivaraj Kumar was a superstar when Om was released. The movie increased his fan base and his popularity among the movie viewers. But the real winner was director Upendra. Movie pushed him to highest echelons of stardom. The movie's charm did not just stop there. The distributors and theater owners made lump-sum profit from the movie.

Even after almost two decades, many movie theaters screen Om when new releases fail to make profit. The movie has been re-released almost 35 times, a record for any Kannada movie. Many theatres have kept a permanent copy of the movie for immediate screening purpose. Theaters like 'Kapali' have screened the movie on many occasions as a stop gap arrangement.

Now the news is that the movie will be reworked on and released with 5.1 surround sound effect. The movie has never failed to attract the crowd, such is its charm. With the remastered print, it would be interesting to see how well the movie does in theaters.
