Sunanda Pushkar's Death Shocks Ramya

The sudden death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, has shocked Kannada actress turned politician Ramya. The actress, who is presently a Member of Parliament representing Mandya constituency, had recently met Shashi Tharoor and his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in Leela hotel, Delhi, on January 17. The news, which spread like wildfire had shocked the Nation.

Recalling her interaction with Sunanda Pushkar and Shashi Tharoor, Ramya said, "I met Shashi Tharoor as recently as in December last year, as I have been working towards establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya in my constituency, and was in touch with him for that. He had even invited me over to his house for dinner. When I met Mr Tharoor and Sunanda (Pushkar Tharoor), they came across as a normal couple."

"Sunanda, especially, was very warm in her interactions with me. There were other guests as well at the dinner, including Omar (Abdullah) and a few foreign delegates, and the general conversation was about India. Yet Sunanda took time out to speak to me. Obviously, we did not talk about our personal lives, but then I have been in films long enough and know not to take most of what is written about celebrities at face value. The news of her passing is very shocking," she added.
