We
had
two
notable
Kannada
releases
in
the
form
of
Jigarthanda
and
Lakshmana
last
Friday
(June
24).
Jigarthanda
is
backed
by
Abhinaya
Chakravarthy
and
Lakshmana
is
directed
by
R
Chandru.
Jigarthanda
was
released
by
Jack
Manjunath
of
Mysore
Talkies
wherein
Lakshmana
was
distributed
by
B
H
Baasha
of
Bahar
Enterprises.
Both
had
good
releases
in
terms
of
theaters
(considering
the
star
cast),
but
Jigarthanda
had
a
slightly
better
number
of
theaters.
Jigarthanda
received
good
responses
from
both
audience
and
critics
wherein
Lakshmana
was
a
decent
movie
as
the
per
critics
and
audiences.
Jigarthanda
did
fairly
better
than
Lakshmana
at
the
box
office
in
the
opening
weekend.
Talking
about
promotions,
one
can
easily
say
Jigarthanda
is
one
of
the
well-promoted
movie
in
the
recent
past.
Apparently
SRV
Productions
have
spent
close
to
a
crore,
for
promotions,
which
is
a
very
big
amount
considering
the
budget
of
the
movie.
Along
with
this
promotional
blitz,
backing
of
Kichcha
Sudeep
fans
has
helped
movie
a
lot
in
terms
of
promotion
and
opening.
The
makers
of
Lakshmana
promoted
the
movie
well,
the
aggressiveness
and
spark
that
Jigarthanda
team
had,
was
missing
from
the
team.
Even
though
the
songs
were
good,
it
did
not
reach
audience
like
team
would
have
wanted
it
to
be.
Complaint
from
one
section
of
audience
is,
Crazy
Star
V
Ravichandran
was
not
used
much
in
promotional
materials
(like
posters,
banners,
vinyls
etc).
Jigarthanda
was
off
to
a
good
start
and
team
is
hoping
that
the
collections
would
be
equally
good
in
the
weekdays.
On
the
other
hand,
Lakshmana
got
a
decent
start
and
was
liked
by
mass
audiences
for
its
action
sequences.
Team
is
hoping
that
family
audience
will
embrace
the
movie
as
well,
as
it
is
being
promoted
as
a
family
entertainer.
