Just when we thought that there are a number of multistarrers in different stages of production, we have yet another one titled Thackeray, which is in the pre-production stage now.
Crazy Star V Ravichandran and Dynamic Prince Prajwal Devaraj will be playing the lead roles in this film, that is to be directed by Guru Deshpande of Raja Huli fame. This is the first time, the two stars are coming together.
The project will be bankrolled by MN Kumar under MNK Movies. Jayashree Devi will be presenting the film for which Vasu will be working as the executive producer. Same producers are behind yet another multistarrer, Mukunda Murari, which is gearing up for release.
As per director Guru Deshpande, the movie is not based on Bal Thackeray or his sons. This is a completely fictional story, however, the movie will be made on the lines of Hindi movie Sarkar.
Prajwal confirms the same and clarifies that film was titled as Thackeray because director found this name to be powerful and also he thought this title would be apt for his script. The movie is based on mafia in a particular region.
Prajwal will play the character that will have a grey shade and apparently this will be not a regular hero role which we get to see in commercial entertainers. Also, he is undergoing a makeover for the film.
Ravichandran, is playing an important role of a godfather to Prajwal and it is said that the Crazy Star will be seen playing a very different role. We hear that this role will have shades of Amitabh Bachchan's character in Sarkar.
The makers are planning to start shooting for the movie by end of this month. Meanwhile, Prajwal has finished his work for Chowka and Guru Deshpande is readying John Jaani Janardhan for a release.
