Jackie - Movie Review

By By Shekhar H Hooli

Director Suri is back to big screen after more than one and a half year, but he has made this long waiting worth. His latest movie Jackie is a commercial film, which is the right blend of all elements like love, sentiments, comedy and fights. Suri has made it a perfect entertainer.

Jackie is an action-cum-love story, but it is different from usual trend. Puneet Rajkumar rocks the audience with his electric performance. The highlights of the film are Harikrishna's music, Suri's dialogues and screenplay, Sathya Hegde's cinematography, Rangayana Raghu's comedy, stunts, art and costumes. There are a very few minus points, which are ignorable.

Director Suri has chosen a simple story and made it a wonderful watch. With his amazing screenplay and tight-gripping narration, he holds the attention of the viewers right from the beginning to the end of the film. His colloquial dialogues have lot of punch in them. In a few sequence, his dialogues become moral lessons, which a viewer can adapt in his life.

Jackie is all about a happy-go-lucky boy, who takes life easily and faces many bad consequences. The first half of the film gives a perfect introduction to Puneet's character and few other supporting characters. Suri manages to make it a quiet interesting with essential number of twists. But the story takes new turn after the interval and the climax is superb.

Jackie (Puneet Rajakumar) is a wayward guy. He has just passed 8th standard and with his talkative nature, he makes his livelihood. Including his mother Jayamma, everyone in his village Belligere consider him a liar and untrustworthy person. He lands at a problem when the priest's daughter Yashodha (Harshika Poonacha) elopes with a guy. While he is in search of her, he saves the life of a girl named Lakshmi (Bhavana), who falls in love with him. How he finds Yashodha and proves that he is an innocent guy will form the climax of the film.

As usual, Puneet Rajkumar is the showman. He has shown lot of energy in stunts and dance sequences. With his fluent and natural dialogue delivery, he impresses the viewers, especially pranksters. Bhavana does not have much to do in the film, but she too wins the heart of audience with her smile and decent acting. Rangayana Raghu's comedy is also good. Shobaraj, Ravi Kale, Raju Talikote, Sampath S, Ravi Kiran, Harshika Poonachcha, Prasanna, Apoorva, Sushma and Biradar have also done justice to their respective roles.

The biggest highlights of the film are Yogaraj Bhat's lyrics and Harikrishna's music. All the songs are good to listen. Especially, songs like 'Ekka Raja Rani...', 'Edavatt Aitu...,' title track 'Jackie...' have become very popular. Sathya Hegde's camera work, Addapanna's art, Aanji's costume in these songs are simply superb. Ravi Varma and Different Danny's stunts are also marvelous.

Overall, Suri's Jackie a mass movie. It has something to offer to everyone. It is a descent movie, which can be watched by the members of a family sitting together. It is really a treat to Puneet fans.
