Musafir Critics Review

filmibeat.com
Malayalam actor Rahman, who made his comeback with Mammootty's Black, has starred in multi-starrer movies in recent years. Now, he is playing a solo hero in his latest outing Musafir (The traveller), which has been directed by Pramod Pappan. Shot in exotic foreign locales like Cyprus, Dubai and London, the film is a big budget action extravaganza and Rahman is sure to rock the viewers. Musafir is a romantic action thriller with a few masala elements. Rahman's electrifying performance coupled with Mamta Mohandas' glamour creates a magic on screen. Interesting story and screenplay, melodious soundtracks and stunning background score, scintillating visuals, beautifully choreographed action and dance sequences, exotic locales, beautiful costumes and art direction are the biggest strengths of the film. Pramod Pappan has chosen an exciting storyline for Musafir, which is not confined to any particular period. Set in a global backdrop, the movie revolves around the lives of some NRIs living in Dubai. The film showcases the globalisation and its impact on the international scene. It has a unique and fresh theme, which has not been explored much in Mollywood in the past. Anupama (Mamta Mohandas) is the daughter of a rich businessman GK (Cochin Haneefa) in Dubai. This affluent young woman is an ardent lover of art and music, and she organises music shows. Musician Humayoon (Rahman) approaches Anupama seeking her financial assistance in order to compose a symphony. Initially, she refuses his request. But he impresses her with his performance at a dance programme, which was to be cancelled at the last moment.

Realising his calibre, Anupama consequently accepts his request. Soon, they are struck by cupid. Their affection for each other creates a tug-of-war between Humayoon and Sakthi (Bala), an employee at Anupama's father's company, who has feelings for Anupama. Sakthi then decides to kill Rahman. Meanwhile, GK plans to revamp their brand by launching a new logo. The story takes an unexpected turn, when the same logo is introduced in the market by another firm. What happens next will form the crux of the story.

As musician, Rahman looks very cute and has given wonderful performance in Musafir. He impresses the audience with his electrifying action, stunts and dance. As solo hero, he is successful in carrying the whole responsibility on his shoulders.

As an organiser of music shows, Mamta Mohandas has also got good amount of screen presence and she has done justice to her role. She looks very glamourous and her chemistry with Rahman is also good.

Cochin Haneefa, Bala, Divya Unni, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Mamukkoya and P Sreekumar and other actors have also done justice to their roles. Their performances are good assets for Musafir.

Musafir has sound production values. Ouseppachen's music and background are big highlights in the technical front. All his soundtracks are melodious and trendy, which help the director to make the film a musical romance.

Shoukath Lensman's camera work is biggest asset of the film Musafir. He has captured some of the most exotics locales in Cyprus, Dubai and London, which have not been explored by anyone in Indian cinema. The movie is a visual treat.

Other technical departments like editing, dialogues, costumes, art work and selection of locations are simply superb, and they are good asset of the film Musafir.

Overall, Musafir is a very good entertainer and a visual treat. Director Pramod Pappan has done neat job tapping out good work from both cast and crew. It is must watch film.
