After Pakal, Nagaram and Ayudham, director MA Nishad has offered his fourth movie Vairam, which is an issue-based film. The film discusses things that are very much relevant in today's India. Above all, it touches the hearts of those who are the parents of girl child.

Vairam has been titled after the character Vairamani (Dhanya Mary), a young girl who is raped and killed. Vairamani's father Sivarajan (Pasupathy) is a bank manager and mother Devi (Meera Vasudev) a housewife. Sivarajan is basically from Tamil Nadu, while Devi hails from Kerala. The couple dotes on their daughter and they have dreams of making her a doctor. Sivarajan and family shift to Kerala following a transfer and then Vairamani, who is doing her higher secondary schooling, gets admitted in the school run by the 'Thalikkulam' family, headed by Thalikkulam Avarachan (Thilakan), who has two sons- Thalikkulam George Kutty (Ashokan) and Thalikkulam Josekutty (Jayasurya).
