Khushboo sacrifices pay for role

Ask Khushboo what her dream role is and she'd say, Maniammai. And that's the role that she's playing in the new film based on the life of social reformist-turned-politician EVR Periyaar.

There had been lot of controversy surrounding her selection for the role. Its cinematographer Thangar Bachchan already has a long-standing feud with her and tried his best to get her removed from the role. Even politicians joined in. but, nothing could persuade Khushboo from walking out of the project.

Ever since Sathyaraj told me about his plans to make that film, I had been doing lot of research on the role. I fell in love with her and I'm going to do that role come what may," she declared.

And just to make all the troubles worth it for the producer, Khushboo had refused to get paid for the film.
