Mammootty’s film in name trouble

By Super Admin

Mammootty will act in a Tamil film after a long time. His last appearance in a Tamil movie was in Junior Senior with Hamsavirdan few years before. Though the Malayalam megastar shifted residence permanently to Chennai, he keeps away from the Tamil films and shuttles to Trivandrum for his Malayalam commitments. Now Mammootty has signed a film titled Vande Matharam to be directed by Karthik, a former associate of Mani Ratnam.

Mammootty plays a tough cop in the movie while Sneha, cast opposite the mega star, dons the role of a pilot for the first time in Tamil. Vidyasagar is scoring the music for this movie. But there is confusion over the title chosen for the film. It is yet to be determined whether Vande Matharam is a Tamil title or Sanskrit one. This is only because of the tax-free benefits announced by the Tamilnadu government for with names in Tamil. The producer told the director to think an alternate title too.

Pankaj Productions Henry will produce the movie in both Tamil and Telugu respectively. The producer has planned to release the Tamil version straightaway in Kerala. Mammootty had acted in a Pankaj Productions Henry's film, Marualarchi, a few years ago. Pazhassi Raaja, another Mammooty starrer film with Sarath Kumar, also to be release in Tamil simultaneously along with its Malayalam version. So, this year, there will be double dhamaka for Mammooty fans in TamilNadu.
