The second schedule of Vineeth-Kavya Madhavan starrer Banaras, being directed by Nemam Pushparaj of Gowri Sankaram fame, will begin at Parassala, one of the prominent towns in Thiruvananthapuram district, from November 17 onwards. Udiyankugara near Neyyatinkara is yet another location.

In this film, Vineeth acts as Hari, a research student on folk dances, while Kavya Madhavan is Amritha, a classical dancer. This is the first time Kavya Madhavan plays a classical dancer in her career. Mulla fame Meera Nandhan also plays an important role in this film, produced by M.R. Nair under the banner of Kashi films.

Banaras is an offbeat love story, flowering in the backdrop of pilgrim centres in Varanasi, one of world's oldest living cities and the religious capital of India. The film, giving equal importance to music will also have some brilliantly-choreographed dance sequences.

The other cast members include Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Devan, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Harisree Asokan and Suraj Vejaramoodu. M. Jayachandran sets music to lyrics written by Giresh Puthencherry. The singers include K.J. Yesudas, Sadhana Sargam and Shreya Goshal. Camera is handled by M. Sukumar. Scripted by Cheriyaan Kalpakavaady, Banaras will be brought to theatres by Minerva Release.
