Former
ace
Indian
national
level
footballer
I.M.
Vijayan
has
been
in
Malyalam
films
for
nearly
10
years.
In
Kaala
Hiran,
a
documentary
focused
on
him,
he
appeared
as
himself,
and
also
in
lead
roles
in
films
like
Shantham
and
Aakashathile
Paravakal.
When
Jayaraj
gave
Vijayan
the
lead
in
Shantham,
no
one
guessed
the
potential
actor
in
him.
Vijayan
made
his
debut
memorable
as
a
spineless
youngster,
who
runs
away
after
killing
his
friend
over
a
political
issue.
After
the
remarkable
critical
and
commercial
success
of
the
movie,
Vijayan
went
on
to
showcase
his
talent
in
hits
like
Aakashathile
Paravakal,
Quotation
and
the
Tamil
movie
Thimiru,
opposite
Vishal.
After
a
hiatus,
Vijayan
hits
the
silver
screen
with
another
important
role
in
his
guru
Jayaraj's
new
movie
Gulmohar.
The
movie
has
Vijayan
portraying
an
adivasi
youth
from
Wayanad.
"'I
still
get
some
offers
from
Tamil
movies.
But
since
I
still
work
with
football,
I
have
turned
down
roles
that
had
nothing
much
to
offer," says
Vijayan.
