One
of
the
country's
most
popular
actors
and
star
of
innumerable
hit
films
down
south,
Kamal
Hassan
is
in
the
news
for
doing
his
bit
towards
charity
for
downtrodden
children.
The
veteran
actor
has
been
named
ambassador
of
Hridaya
Ragam
II,
a
project
launched
by
the
World
Malayalee
Council
(WMC)
to
facilitate
free
cardio
surgeries
for
about
100
poor
children
this
year.
The
actor,
who
is
more
popular
for
his
work
in
Tamil
films,
said
that
he
was
just
doing
his
duty
and
didn't
really
differentiate
between
the
Tamil
and
Malayalee
communities
when
it
came
to
extending
his
support
for
such
a
noble
cause.
To
raise
funds,
the
WMC,
in
association
with
the
Madras
Medical
Mission
and
'Malayala
Manorama'
group
of
publication,
would
also
be
holding
a
musical
concert
on
Feb
24th
where
leading
singers
and
composers
of
the
Malayalam
film
industry
would
take
part.
The
event
would
be
inaugurated
by
veteran
music
composer
Ilayaraja.
