Promises for 14th IFFK

Kerala Cultural Affair Minister M.A. Baby said that the government will provide movie buffs an opportunity to watch some all-time classics in world cinema from the next edition of the 13th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). He was speaking at the valedictory function of IFFK in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

"The next edition of film festival will include a special package on all-time greats. We want to give movie lovers a chance to watch some of the all-time great movies released across the world over the last 50 years," he said.

K.R. Mohanan, chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Akademi which organised IFFK, highlighted the need to come up with a festival complex with adequate facilities to screen the films. He said that this year, all films were screened at eight venues scattered across the city. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs M. Vijayakumar, who presided over the function, supported the need for a permanent venue for screening festival movies.

The valedictory function was also attended by Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran, Pannian Ravindran, MP, and V. Sivankutty, MLA.

Mexican film Parque Vie (Park View), directed by Enrique Rivero, won the Golden Crow Pheasant Award (Suvarna Chakoram) for the best feature film. Mariana Rondon, who directed Postcards from Leningrad, won the Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best director.
