Magic Lamp lighted after 8 yrs

Jayaram-starrer Magic Lamp was finally released in theatres last Friday without fanfare. The movie was completed eight years ago, but has been lying in the cans because of a financial dispute between the producers and distributors. Now a new team has taken up Magic Lamp and they have released it on an experimental basis. So the film is released only in one theatre in Kothamangalam. On June 6th, more prints of the film are likely to be released.

Magic Lamp, directed by Haridas, features Jayaram, Meena, Samyuktha, Divya Unni, Jagathy and Indrans. The film is a musical entertainer where Jayaram appears in four different roles.

Audience response to the film is lukewarm because they feel it is old and outdated. The two actresses of the film, Samyuktha and Divya Unni, got married and left the field years ago.
