The pleasure of directing a superstar like Rajinikanth is not something that can be easily expressed through words, especially when the director is an upcoming pretty actress like Mamta Mohandas. In the latest sensation Kuselan (Kathanayakadu in Telugu), even if it was a cameo as an associate director who gets to direct the superstar for a song, Mamta Mohandas considers it as an exceptional moment in her life.
She remembers the moment she got the call to do the role. "I was shooting a Malayalam movie in Dubai. We were shooting under a tight schedule and they couldn't do a single day without me. That is when I got this call for making an appearance in Kuselan. I did not have any second thoughts other than asking my directors whether they would let me go. They gracefully obliged and I was off for five days."
She plays the character of an associate director, which was not found in the Malayalam original, Kadha Parayumbol. It was Rajinikanth's idea to add such a role in the Tamil and Telugu versions.
For Mamta, Rajinikanth is just like any other person. "I had a good time shooting with Rajini Sir. He seemed to be a humble person. It was very easy to pick up a conversation with him. He is just like any other person. I had my bit of interaction with Rajini Sir before I went for my first shot. I was to say, 'Well done, Mr. Ashok,' and shake hands with him. He is such a simple person that he does not make his co-actors feel nervous. I did not feel nervous, either."
At the same time, Mamta is really happy having associated with P. Vasu once again after the Telugu film Krishna Arjuna by the veteran director. "Besides, sharing the screen with Rajinikanth was something I shouldn't say 'no' to," she says.
