Ace director Kamal's new film Minnaminnikoottam with a gang of young actors including Narain, Indrajith, Jayasurya, Manikuttan, Anoopchandran, Meera Jasmine, Samvrutha Sunil, Roma and Radhika, talks about the lifestyles of IT professionals. The director, who has been making youth-oriented movies like Niram, Nammal and Swapnakoodu, has a solid reason to choose IT as a base for the story which has been penned by him.
"I chose IT because it seems to be the mantra these days. But, the movie has nothing to do with IT. It simply reflects what we all go through in our everyday lives, especially in a world that is increasingly becoming urbanised. The movie does not stress on the complications in the IT industry. Instead, it only highlights the fast-paced lifestyle of those in the industry and how it complicates various aspects of their lives. I've only tried to capture the actions and emotions in an urban setting," explains the director.
In fact, Bangalore or Hyderabad would have been the perfect choice as the base for a story as far as IT industry is concerned. But Kamal says, "Even Kerala, which does not appear to be taken over by the IT revolution, is slowly getting there. We have tech parks coming up in various cities. I am only looking at the lifestyle and its complexities."
Produced by Rakhiram under the banner of Nihar Films, the film is distributed by Mulakupadam Release. The movie is now in its last phase of shooting with the crew in Singapore and will grace theatres on 12th July.
