Mohanlal opts for change

Mohanlal
Mohanlal's Madambi (in which he plays the role of a moneylender named Gopalakrishna Pillai) continues shooting in Ottappalam. The film is written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan.

In the film, Gopalakrishna Pillai is an ordinary man who lends money at reasonable rates. It should be a welcome change for movie-lovers, who have been continuously rejecting Mohanlal films in which he plays out-of-the-world characters. His previous film, Innathe Chinthavishayam, which had a decent run in the box office was also a soft emotional film directed by Sathyan Anthikadu.

Kavya Madhavan is acting with Mohanlal for the first time in Madambi. She plays Vijayalakshmi, manager of a bank which opens a new branch in the village, thereby harming the business of Gopalakrishna Pillai.

Also in the cast are Saikumar, Jagathy, Innocent, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddhique, Manianpillai Raju, Jagadheesh and Vijayakumar.

The movie will have three songs by Gireesh Puthencheri set to tune by M. Jayachandran. The highlight of the movie will be Mohanlal reciting a poem written by Anil Panachooran.

Produced by B.C. Joshy under the banner of Surya Cinema, the movie will grace theatres by the end of July.
