B. Unnikrishnan, the scriptwriter who turned to direction with the
Sureshgopi starrer Smart City in 2006, has recently
directed the box office blockbuster Madambi, starring
Mohanlal and Kavya Madhavan together for the first time. Much
impressed by the basic plot of Madambi, Mohanlal had
immediately accepted the film, which later turned to be a huge hit
in Kerala as well as in other states.
Now, Unnikrishnan is all set to direct another film titled
I.G. with Sureshgopi in the lead. As the title I.G.
indicates, the film would probably be a cop story. The producer is
Mahi. More details are waited.
Currently, Sureshgopi is busy shooting debutante director
Ajmal's investigative thriller Ring Tone, which is about
an investigation into a series of mysterious cyanide-caused deaths
that take place in a tribal community. Sureshgopi plays the role of
Ninan Koshi, the CBI officer who investigates the case. This is the
first time in his career that Sureshgopi, who is almost synonymous
with the police officer roles on screen, is donning the role of a
CBI officer. Bala plays an important role along with Sureshgopi;
Telugu actress Megha Nair is the heroine.
Produced by Sree Kumar, Swaminathan and Prabhu Kumar under the
banner of Panchajanyam films, Ring Tone has Ashish
Vidyarthi, Rajan P. Dev, Sai Kumar and Anoop Chandran in major
roles. Saneesh and Arafath make their debuts as script writers.
Bejoys wields the camera. Music director Shan scores music to the
lyrics written by Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma.
